Activist Mural
I created a five metre mural that was painted by activists as part of a world-wide campaign calling for the South Korean government to release peaceful protestors.
The mural depicted four Greenpeace activists and the captain of the Rainbow Warrior, all of whom were banned from leaving South Korea following a peaceful protest against a petrochemicals tanker. The protest took place during the fifth round of negotiations for a Global Plastics Treaty, which were held in Busan, South Korea, as part of Greenpeace International’s Plastic Free Future ship tour.
I illustrated the mural and then drew the outline in Greenpeace UK’s workshop. It was a ‘paint by numbers’ mural, designed to be finished in-situ outside South Korean embassies around the world. The mural was recreated in London, Berlin, Paris, Jakarta and Taipei.
